Here
is your invitation to something special. Once
again, the American Council of the Blind of Maryland, Old Dominion Council of
the Blind and Visually Impaired, District of Columbia Council of the Blind, and
National Capital Citizens with Low Vision are hosting a convention together at
the Holiday
Inn, Rosslyn at Key Bridge, located at 1900 N. Ft. Myer Drive in Arlington,
Virginia.
This
year, everything will be bigger and better.
There will be twice as much exhibitor space as well as more sessions to
attend. On Saturday during lunch,
you’ll be inspired by Paralympian Joe Aukward’s story.
At the banquet, you’ll enjoy hearing our keynote speaker, Paul Edwards
who is a past American Council of the Blind president.
We
have a jam-packed weekend of informative and fun activities lined up for you.
There’ll be many opportunities for great networking, learning and fun! We kick off the weekend on Friday evening with exhibits and a
reception complete with a jazz quartet for your listening pleasure.
As was the case last year, Saturday and Sunday mornings begin with
general sessions.
You’ll
find breakout sessions especially tailored for persons with partial sight as
well as those who are totally blind. We
delve into current events and how they impact our lives.
In addition, there’s cutting-edge information on assistive technology
and eye-related medical developments. With
14 breakout sessions to choose from, there’s sure to be something for
everyone. Build your own program!
Take a look at the attached tentative schedule for complete convention
details.
Special
Note: Our auction follows the
banquet and awards Saturday night. The
auction is a primary fund-raising event for our affiliates.
If you’ve attended in the past, you know just how much fun it is! If
you’re willing to donate either a door prize or auction items, please contact
a member of the auction committee listed below to make arrangements.
